The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) said Tuesday that it has determined that U.S. industry has been seriously injured by low-cost aluminum wires and cables imported from China, thus locking in U.S. anti-dumping and countervailing duties.

In October, the U.S. Department of Commerce said its final ruling was that the price of aluminum wires and cables sold by Chinese exporters in the United States was lower than the cost and there was dumping.

It is reported that in 2018, imports of such goods from China amounted to US $115 million. ITC said it would issue a public investigation report on January 6 to support the findings of the Ministry of Commerce.

In the final ruling, the Ministry of Commerce will set the dumping rate for wires and cables imported from China at 58.51% to 63.47%. Its subsidy rate to Chinese producers is between 33.44% and 165.63%.

Manufacturers of encore wire, Texas, and southwire, Georgia, have asked to reduce what they call subsidies for imports from China.

The trump administration has strengthened its enforcement of U.S. trade laws, focusing on so-called subsidized products imported from China. In October, it said it had launched 184 new anti-dumping and countervailing duties investigations since President Donald Trump took office, an increase of 235 per cent over the same period of the previous administration.
