Accelerating the approval of mineral exploration license by the Brazilian government

      According to reports, the Brazilian mining association recently welcomed the initiative of the Brazilian government to speed up the approval of mineral exploration license, which will bring investment to the mining industry.

On Monday, local time, Brazil's state mining bureau announced a new regulation, setting a time limit for all kinds of administrative approvals, especially the approval of exploration license must be completed within 120 days. According to the new regulations, if the approval has not been completed within the time limit, it will be deemed as approval automatically.

Eduardo Leo, a deputy director of Brazil's National Mining Bureau, said the government would crack down on bureaucracy. Over the years, many mineral rights applications have taken as long as five years to be approved. He believes that the state mining bureau is fully capable of completing the examination and approval within a limited time. Leo stressed that even if the approval is obtained automatically, mining companies will still be punished if they violate Brazilian laws; the new system can create a friendly investment environment for Brazilian mining industry and attract mining investment.
