State Key Project of Rare Earth Aluminum Alloy Cable Replacing Copper Cable

Hui Xiaobing, chairman of China Association for the Promotion of Science and Technology Industrialization, believes that the use of rare earth aluminium alloy cables is the general trend of the development of China's cable industry in the future. China lacks copper resources and needs to import a large amount of foreign exchange from abroad every year. Bauxite resources are abundant and the price is low. If we can replace copper with aluminium, it has very important strategic significance for our country. Rare earth aluminium alloy is a new kind of basic material produced by adding rare earth elements into aluminium. It has a wide range of uses and can completely replace copper with aluminium. Rare earth aluminium alloy cables have been listed in the "Guidance Catalogue of Key Products and Services in Strategic Emerging Industries" by the National Development and Reform Commission, and five national standards have been promulgated and implemented in 2016. Promoting rare earth aluminium alloy products is of great significance in terms of resource scarcity, unique advanced technology, upgrading of industrial industry and economic superiority.
